DLDP is supporting municipality of Shkodër in preparing the new tender for waste management services in the city. DLDP and municipality of Shkodër signed a MoU formalizing such collaboration. Municipality is willing to introduce in the new contract different ways for reducing the waste disposed in the landfill, promote recycling and minimizing the costs of collection and transport. The cost model developed for the DLDP study on cost optimization showed that the implementation of a transfer station in Shkodër could be an option to reduce these costs. Based on these conclusions, the municipality is willing to pilot DLDP model and introducing a new transfer station in the waste management cycle in Shkodër. At the same time, the agreement between Shkodër and his service provider is arriving to the end and municipality is undergoing the elaboration process of the procedures and technical specifications for the new tender.
